PARIS REGION FASHION & DESIGN TRADE SHOWS MEET DANISH DESIGN PLAYERS IN COPENHAGEN
On November 25, in the Copenhagen showroom of Normann Copenhagen, an iconic location for Danish design, Paris Region Entreprises and Promosalons organized a promotional evening for the Paris region and the trade shows it hosts for the creative sector – design and fashion. "Design & Fashion – A French and Danish love affair in Paris."
A delegation of five Paris Region trade show directors came from Paris to meet with industry professionals and the Danish press (see box). Their trade shows are leaders in the lingerie, textile, fashion, hospitality and housewares-home furnishings sectors.
More than 150 French and Danish decision-makers and influencers from the design and fashion spheres met and interacted in a friendly and festive atmosphere. This gathering further reinforced the already strong ties between Danish and French actors in the field of design.
Paris: Capital of design and creation
Poul Madsen, CEO of Normann Copenhagen, opened the evening by observing that "Paris Region trade shows are indispensable for meeting our customers and prospects, as well as the world press."
Frédérique de Bast, head of the International Marketing department at Paris Region Entreprises, underscored the design sector's magnitude in the Paris Region: 4,000 companies, 30,000 employees and €2 billion in revenue. "In addition, it is the only region in the world that hosts 35 leading international trade shows for creation and design. Come to Paris, participate in these trade shows and develop your business in the City of Light; numerous opportunities are awaiting you."
"Nearly 5,000 Danish visitors and 400 Danish exhibitors participate each year in French trade fairs, with a large majority in the fashion, textile, decoration and creation sectors," observed Joséphine Sconza and Liselotte Christensen, Directors of Promosalons for the Nordic countries.
"Design is a language that the Danish and French have in common; we must seize every opportunity to interact and share our savoir-faire," said His Excellency Mr. François Zimeray, French Ambassador to Denmark. "The recent events in Paris remind us that Paris belongs to the whole world, Paris is an international symbol of liberty, creativity and the art of living," he concluded, while encouraging more Danish people to visit the city.
Fashion and design trade shows: business meets inspiration
Paris Region's leading fashion and design trade shows came to Copenhagen to interact with the buyers and brands that already attend their shows and to meet new market players.
During the evening, Danish guests viewed a selection of trends and young talent presented by the Paris Region trade shows: two young Danish designers, Troels Flensted and Jonas Edvard, who will be showcased at the next edition of MAISON&OBJET; the bold STUDIO16 project that visualizes the Hotel of the Future, which will be presented at EquipHotel in 2016; a selection of innovative fabrics and materials for Interfilière and the Salon International de la Lingerie (International Lingerie Trade Show); and finally, a fun collaborative project based on Velcro, created by Who’s Next & Première Classe. Danish players also received a souvenir photo from Première Vision in thanks for the inspiration they bring to the sector.
