Tell us about your arrival in Paris Region
I was a long-term resident of Mumbai, enjoying a comfortable life as a tech entrepreneur. Leaving Mumbai and India was never part of the plan. But a chance meeting with Business France in Mumbai opened an unexpected opportunity.
They introduced me to the French Tech Ticket — at the time, a pioneering initiative by La French Tech designed to attract global startup founders to France. Selected startups received a four-year French Tech Visa, financial support, incubation, and entry into one of Europe’s most dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Out of more than 2,000 international applicants, we were proud to be among the 65 startups selected in 2017. Logically, leaving Mumbai didn’t make much sense — but intuition led me to seriously consider the move, and the very idea of living in Paris ultimately sealed my decision.
Where did you choose to live and why?
We chose the 6th arrondissement of Paris – for my wife and me, it offered the perfect blend of charm, culture, and convenience. The cobbled streets, cafés, galleries, and bookstores give it a timeless Parisian soul. It’s also central and well-connected, which makes daily life easy and enjoyable. And when friends or family visit, we’re just a short walk away from the city's most iconic landmarks.
Tell us about your current job & what do you enjoy the most about working in Paris Region?
After successfully exiting my startup, I entered a new phase of my career as a Business Consultant and Strategic Advisor for international tech companies, helping them bridge the gap between vision and execution - particularly in the exciting field of Generative AI.
At the same time, I’ve remained closely connected to the entrepreneurial world. I launched The IndoFrench Launchpad, a platform supporting cross-border collaboration between India and France, mentoring startups, facilitating ecosystem connections, and highlighting emerging innovation.
What I truly enjoy about working in the Paris Region innovation ecosystem is its welcoming, intellectually curious culture, and the growing momentum around responsible tech and entrepreneurship. It’s a place that values creativity and encourages meaningful collaboration.
What, according to you, are the perks of living in Paris Region?
The Paris Region offers a rare and inspiring mix: world-class infrastructure, a flourishing startup ecosystem, and unparalleled cultural life.
Public transport is exceptional, the neighborhoods are walkable and full of character, and there’s always something happening - from exhibitions to music festivals.
You’re also never far from a break: the Loire Valley, Normandy, Provence, or even other European cities are just a short train or flight away.
For international entrepreneurs, the support network is outstanding, offering access to grants, incubators, accelerators, and top talent. But equally important is the quality of life in Paris Region. You can pursue ambitious work and still enjoy a very fulfilling personal life.
Your favourite spot?
It’s hard to pick just one, Paris has so much to offer. But the Jardin du Luxembourg holds a special place in my heart. It’s my go-to spot for walks, casual work meetings, quiet reading, or simply reflection.
I also enjoy working from the Bibliothèque Mazarine (the oldest public library in France). Its history, charm, and absolute silence make it the perfect creative hideaway.
And when spring arrives, there’s nothing quite like a long, unhurried walk along the Seine.
Over the years, I’ve also made many trips to Claude Monet’s home in Giverny (Normandy Region), and each time feels special. It’s an easy getaway from Paris, whether by train or car, and I love spending time in the gardens. The contrast between the peaceful lily pond and the vibrant explosion of blooming flowers is striking, all bathed in natural light. Each visit rekindles my passion for photography. What advice you would give to a newcomer to make the most of Paris Region?
Stay open-minded. Learn a bit of French - it’s always appreciated and opens many doors. Engage with communities - both local and international - and say yes to every opportunity, whether it’s a neighborhood concert or a business networking event.
Paris reveals itself slowly, but when it does, the experience is deeply enriching and truly rewarding.
What was a “good surprise" when you got here?
One of the best surprises was the incredible support I received - both professionally and personally. Whether it came from neighbors, colleagues, mentors, or fellow entrepreneurs, I was met with genuine kindness, time, and empathy.
I was also genuinely impressed by the diversity of the Paris Region ecosystem, meeting founders, artists, and changemakers from around the world whose perspectives enriched my own journey in unexpected and meaningful ways.
Now that you have been living in Paris Region, what stereotype do you believe to be wrong about the French?
The idea that the French are aloof or unwelcoming couldn’t be further from my experience. People here are thoughtful, engaged, and genuinely curious.
Once you take the first step, especially if you try to speak even a little French, they respond with warmth and generosity. I’ve formed deep friendships and meaningful professional relationships here. The Paris Region offers an environment that is both intellectually rich and humanly warm.
