Grand Paris Express
A colossal project
The Grand Paris Express project plans a new metro network, with the first line set to open in 2026 and the entire project to be completed by 2031.
It involves significant investments to modernize and expand the public transport network:
- €36.1 billion invested
- 200 km of additional automatic metro lines
- 68 new stations
- Nearly 3 million passengers per day
- 1 train every 2 to 3 minutes
Unmatched Advantages
The Grand Paris Express is revolutionizing mobility in the Paris Region by offering direct journeys between the densest districts around Paris, interconnected with 29 existing metro, tramway, RER, and suburban train lines. It enables significant time savings: for example, travelling from Pont de Sèvres to Noisy-Champs now takes just 39 minutes, instead of 1 hour previously. This automated metro operates all year round, with high frequency and extended hours, ensuring optimal availability. Inclusive by design, it is fully accessible to people with disabilities.
A complete urban transformation
The Grand Paris Express will connect the three Paris Region airports with business districts, scientific hubs, as well as numerous cultural, health, and sports facilities. Its construction accelerates the urban renewal process of 140 km² of neighborhoods within an 800-meter radius around each railway station. This represents a total development potential of 32 million m².
A major eco-friendly and decarbonized project
The Grand Paris Express boosts the local economy, densifies the city, and enhances the attractiveness of business hubs, all while promoting sustainable mobility. The Grand Paris Express is also a major eco-friendly and decarbonized project. Its construction sites minimize disturbances and respect the environment. Compensatory measures are implemented and monitored for 30 years. Once operational, it will reduce CO₂ emissions by 10.9 million tons by 2050 by limiting car usage. Around the stations, sustainable neighborhoods will promote energy efficiency and biodiversity. More than just a metro, it represents a green transformation of the metropolis.

Located at the boundary of the municipalities of Clichy-sous-Bois and Montfermeil, the Clichy – Montfermeil station is situated near the Bondy forest, along the Dhuys promenade and the Ateliers Médicis. The future station of line 16 of the Grand Paris Express will allow residents to have easier access to the capital and other cities in the Grand Paris. Following the commissioning of the T4 tram-train in 2019, the arrival of the Clichy – Montfermeil station in 2027 will complete the transformation of this neighborhood.
The Clichy – Montfermeil station is distinguished from the outside by its colorful and openwork pergola. This structure houses the two buildings of the station, one of which will be designated for welcoming travelers.
